It is heartbreaking to see Puntlanders fighting against one another, but this is not "clan war". These are skirmishes between insurgents vs. the State of Puntland.

 

 

We have seen similar conflicts between the government and other insurgency groups regardless of clan origin:

 

 

-- The 1992 Al-Itihad Uprising against the State of Puntland (most of the insurgents being from Nugaal and Mudug). The State crushed the insurgents killing many of them inside Garowe.

 

-- The 2002 Karkaar insurgency against the State of Puntland (All the insurgents being from Karkaar and Bari). The State crushed this insurgency and chased them all the way to CeelAfweyn, Somaliland.

Again a rubbish statement! If this was a clan war as you want us to believe, it would be on a much larger scale. Maakhir is not coming to Mr. Atam's defense.The most powerful politician from this area is on the Puntland governments side and you said last time he would be held accountable and he never was, but in fact it is Atam being held accountable for siding with Al Shabaab.

Why do these Maakhiri kids think that their empty lifeless region could ever support an armed movement like this? They can't even build roads or wells in their region. Do they not remember their failed state and crawling back to Garowe to be fed. I would estimate that a good 90% of the arms revenue this group is getting comes from the chief clans of the former SSDF and the majority clan of Puntland; only they could pay for this kind of endeavor as with 1992. And just as in 1992, Maakhir is being used as a cover because its a massive empty mountainous region with no visible human life or armed force to flank them.

 

I can't believe people think that the stone age villagers of Badhan, Dahar, and Las Qoray could muster the funds to pull this off, lol. This money is coming from businessmen in Galkacyo, Garowe, and Bosaso (not counting recent Maakhiri migrants).
