While looking at pictures of sex is not the same as committing Zina (fornication/adultery) with someone, it is still considered the "Zina" of the eye and it is a prohibited act. Looking at any person with sexual temptations other than one's own wife/husband is prohibited in Islam and is a sin. This is confirmed in the Qur'an in Surah an-Nour (24) verses 30-31 and it is an order from God to the Muslims to lower their gaze. It is true that there are temptations in each society, but there are also effective prescriptions to deal with such temptations. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) ordered the Muslim males who are not able to get married to fast (in addition to the days of Ramadan) because fasting increases a person's chastity, purity, and virtuousness. You can also spend more time learning about Islam, being in the presence of Muslims to do Islamic activities, and exercising. We can assure you (from scientific studies and experience with many people) that looking at pornographic pictures will only increase your sexual drive and not appease it. Prevention and abstention are the best options, not staring at such pictures. The divine prescription is truly the best if you truly want to help yourself. Thank you for asking and God knows best.
