me Posted May 1, 2007 Hi Vicky Pollard, Poseidon gave the two horses to King Peleus of Phtia, as a wedding gift, when Peleus married the Ocean goddess Thetis. Peleus later gave the horses to his son Achilles who took them to draw his chariot during the Trojan War. Book XVI of the Iliad tells us that Achilles had a third horse, Pedasos (maybe "Jumper", maybe "Captive"), which was yoked as a "trace horse", along with Xanthus and Balios. Achilles had captured Pedasos when he took the city of Eetion. Pedasos was mortal, but he could keep up with the divine horses. Sarpedon, prince of Lycia and ally of Troy, killed Pedasos when his spear missed Patroclus. Achilles' comrade-in-arms Patroclus used to feed and groom the horses. In the Iliad, it is told how, when Patroclus was killed in battle, Xanthus and Balius stood motionless on the field of battle, and wept. In Iliad XVII, 590, Automedon, Achilles' charioteer, states that only Patroclus was able to fully control these horses. When Xanthus was rebuked by the grieving Achilles for allowing Patroclus to be slain, Hera granted Xanthus human speech which broke Divine law , saying that a god had killed Patroclus, and that a god would soon kill Achilles too. After this, the Erinyes struck the horse dumb. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balius

me Posted May 1, 2007 So the black star in the secessionist enities flag stands for the 'demise' of United Somalia, while the white star in the Somali Flag stands for the unity and brotherhood of the Somali nation. Hmmm that black star is kinda negative wouldn't you say?
-Nomadique- Posted May 1, 2007 What is a Black Star? Is it the cat with the black shades, the black car? Is it shinin from very far, to where you are? It is commonplace and different Intimate and distant Fresher than an infant
Ibtisam Posted May 1, 2007 ^ Me No one said they were happy about the demise of unity and brotherhood, maybe they were able to look ahead and see that things were just not working out, and you maybe able to protect that brotherhood if nothing else by going in different directions before things get real ugly again. I’ll give you an example: I’m married and I have two kids, me and my husband have a fight and he beats the hell out of me and the kids, then i am able to push him off and he leaves. I demand a divorce, my family and friends and his family and friends all try to persuade me to give it another try, but I acknowledge all their advise and appreciate it but at the same time I stick to my decision. After many years, he starts seeing his mistake and releases me of marriage contract in an effort to build a bridge. Maybe I would raise our kids with out telling them what a B* he was and how he abused their mother, and they will love him as their distance father. You see as if I had bent with pressure and allowed him back him, he would (or may) have repeated his beating over again, his kids will hate him for life, and I might one day lose it totally and kill him in his sleep. What a sad ending eh….. my point is a bad ending can be better than an even worse ending
