Cowke Posted October 31, 2009 It is sad you your media loves to twist what farole says. I posted what farole had to say from a reliable puntland media horseed. All he said was that Puntland supports the ****** people and the right for them to live and work in the state, however Puntland won't tolerate ONLF rebel activity inside it's juristictions due to safety concerns. This means, sorry but Puntland people safety and security must come first and we won't allow terrorist nor rebels to put that into jepordy. Remember what happened to the taliban when they hosted al-qaeda, they were attacked by America and the safety of the people was completely jepordized. Dr. Farole doesn't want to see the same scenario occur against his own people. However, he did note that Puntland will use a balanced method in order to appease addis and onlf patriots. The method includes have an officer from Ethiopia based in Puntland and if anyone of suspicion of ONLF activity is found they will be interrogated by local Police, Birmaadka, or as far as PIS. This interrogation will be monitored by the Ethiopian officer who will be based in Puntland to make sure they are satisified. If the Person is found guilty, they will be tried under the judicial system in puntland and sentenced. Their will be no hand-overs to Ethiopia, I repeat their will be no "HAND-OVERS" it will be done in puntland, tried in court at puntland, and prosecuted in puntland. If the person is found not guilty, he will be released. This is Puntland Policy and Farole Policy, I agree with it personally it balances out in moderate way addis ababa interest whilst appeasing "reasonable" onlf patriots and keeps our the populace in puntland in security. I believe this balanced measure is workable and will not cause civil-strife with religious clerics in puntland who strongly forbid hand-overs to ethiopia of onlf rebels and will cause instability if the wadaads are tested. Clan-elders totally disapprove of it also and may take back their confidence in the administration, which can lead to degaans lost and that is definitely not in the interest of Puntland. This tailored made proposal by dr.farole factors in the local populace safety, addis requirements, onlf requirements, whilst appeasing various other stakeholders such as clan-elders and religious clerics. If you don't like this that is up to you but that is what Puntland policy is. Our people come first and their security will not be jepordized for ONLF rebels. ONLF rebels will be treated in the best possible way humanely and will not be handed over to ethiopia, this is as far Puntland can go in-terms of satifying onlf disgruntled community.
