Abdullahi Yusuf's New Headache...

Recommended Posts

Things are getting more complicated for the TFG. After being summoned to Addis, it seems the Ethiopians have painted Abdullahi Yusuf as the impediment to the functionality of the TFG. The Ethiopian Foreign Minister gave an interview to the Financial Times in which he expressed Ethiopia's frustration with the "internal squabbles" of the TFG leadership (FT news article) . Many Somalis closer to the ground claim that Abdullahi Yusuf is being blamed this time by the Ethiopians. This is further proven by Abdullahi Yusuf's interview with the VOA in which he wrapped himself in the mantle of 'protector of the constitution' (VOA interview) . Mr. Yusuf's argument was that the issue is not intransigence on his part but rather his rightful insistence on constitutional law being followed.

Those who have heard Mr. Yusuf before noticed this was a far cry from the man who used to make bombastic statements about taking hold of law and order in Somalia with an iron fist. His interview was defensive and sounded very much like an appeal to third parties (maybe the Americans and E.U.) to intercede with the Ethiopians. Let's see how this plays out in the near future.

Meanwhile, Puntland has declared A. Yusuf's new oil deal non-applicable to Puntland and even questioned any legal powers the TFG might have over Puntland (Puntland oo diidey heshiiskii C/lahi Yusuf & Kuwait energy) . This clash seems to have its roots in family finances. Puntland's Range deal is spearheaded by Adde Muse's nephew, Liban Muse Boqor, while Mr. Yusuf's Kuwaiti/Malaysian oil deal is managed by his children. Hence the signing bonuses for either family is in jeopardy if the other family has their way. Another interesting development for political watchers to observe and ponder as it develops.

FYI, Liban is no longer in Range's BOD.

The opposition seek out every narrow crack it can break into and launch their propoganda attack on the goverment and hope one day it collapses from within. The president has nevertheless overcome many times internal divisions designed to weaken the TFG in its search for legitimacy. The same ones he weeded out since they stood in the way of progress forged alliance with the Islamists; unfortunately they could NOT exert any influence on the ground or pitch their political personality as they are mostly in exile.

One time, you had put the governor of Mogadishu in par with the president as if both were propped up by the Ethiopian and that Yusuf had no power to either sack or restore him even if he uses the power of the constitution.

The president believes in constitutionalism and he is disciplined to observe the rules of the system.

The PM was ignorant of the legality of his actions, and all the president did was reinstate the governor because the PM violated the procedures on which to get his decision approved.

Alle ninku hadalkiisu qalafsana oo qaab darana.

"Ethiopia danta soomaaliya ayada garanaysa"

Would any sane somalian ever think of saying those words? even if he is protected and helped by ethiopia(puppet), he doesn't have the intelligence to articulate his statements cleverly without being so open.

Each time he opens his mouth something unexpectedly comes out.

Abdullahi even if he dies today will not have any impact on the new third republic of Somalia.

President Yusuf is a man who set the foundation for the state, Camir's concise argument summs it all up.

The opposition dont even control the Youth, Al shabaab anymore..

Its over lads, the republic is back the people are in power and the farm looters are no more.

No more IndaCade, No more Abdiqasin, No more Barre Huuraale., No more JVA..
