Why so serious???!!!!

"For the moment al-shabaab seem terrifying, they control the land, they are the victors of the fight, there sacrifices allowed for your peace caravan to start ambling along its way, they have given pride to the somali people.

Every day their invective gets more hoarse, their deliberations seem to point to one thing how and where will you be killed you Murtad.

In such a situation it would be easy to invest energy and your meager resources into counter acting the thunder and lightning, but these are phenomena that though spectacular kill only 100 people a year more die from allergies of nuts than are killed by lightning.

The al-shabaab are through unfortunately they are the last to notice.

They are an alien implant, all their wippings and shootings, their bombings and arabic kunyas, their viciousness and lack of finesse, their emulation of a defeated organisation [al-qaeda] and kharajite ways were put up with by the somali populace for two reasons only they were fighting the ethiopians and they brought immediate peace to wherever they black flags were painted.

The ethiopians overt uniformed presence has gone and the peace they peddle has already proven to be too heavy handed to the Somali people be it in their social lab kismayoo or in their other experiment Dhuusa Mareeb.

With that there two main reasons for existence have been erased, but in their own plodding and blundering way they are attempting to create other reasons for self perpetuation, namely the creation of an islamic emirate, the liberation of somalia galbeed and the removal of another western puppet in Mogadishu"

As I said the al-shabaab have over reached they may be fundamentalist sheikhs but they are not military men.

The president has made it clear he wants to negotiate with anyone at anytime.

The intransigence of al-shaabab has drained there support among the populace.

From a movement that started with food being provided by the old women of mogadishu as they struggled with APRCT to one that rides roughshod over the population and bombards and fights like they are fighting in a tabula rasa!

They do not have the support of the people nor the military or strategic acumen to survive with out it.

This over reaching will bite them in ****.

Briliantly put! I agree with you fully. As to the liberation of Somali galbeed, I don't know if they said so; but even if they said, we don't want it. They are a liability. We don't ant their brand of freedom. Somalia's future is on the balance. If Alshabab are not defeated, there will be no Somalia. I mean, their putalnce and wanton disregard to the opinions of the somali mass and the culuma is appalling.

I heard one of them virtually warning the whole nation (dadka waxaan uga digaynaa kulahaa) against doing this and that!!

^^^

What people fail to understand is that they are in operation and philosophy thinking in terms outside of somaliya haa nolato, if they were they would at the very least accepted a ceasefire, so as to remove a cassus belli of the goverment.

Either it was incompetence on their part or sheer bloodymindedness.

No Liqaye it’s serous my brother.

True that alshabaab's mindless drive to solve every problem with bullets will destroy them in the end. But it will also set us back to an unknown state; it will create new civil war dimensions, which will prolong Somali misery that has recently been showing diminishing signs. You have to also understand the fact that it's not only alshabaab that is fighting in Mogadishu to prevent Sharif's tfg to take hold. There are Aweys, Turk and other insignificant extremist lint that are also fueling this conflict wishing to build a stronger brand. Alshabaab wanted to start the fight so badly in order to create a political condition conducive for their movement to exist and preserve the political and security vacuum they currently have in the south. It’s the current climate in the south mind you that supports these men, who with a little spirit of justice lured many people previously oppressed to accept them and submit to their rule. Today the black flag is hoisted high up in the hills of Bakool, and entire towns are compelled to surrender to the rule of this nonage group. Few dare to contest their authority in strategic areas and whatever brilliant exceptions exist are only in the form of convenient alliances that do more good than harm and keep the status quo intact from alshabaabs point of view.

There are hidden layers in this war, which the current fog in Mogadishu is concealing from observation. Whatever the outcome of this war will eventually have become, the net result of it will be an utter set back for Somalia and Somalis. One may find some pleasure in the inevitable fact that alshabaabs abuse of power will naturally engender popular reactions from the Somali populace that will limit this group’s military and political functionaries in a serous way. But I don’t see any thing to sing about with the caravan compelled to arm, forced to impose rather than facilitating peace, perhaps fettering the development that has thus far been achieved.

But again that's the nature of somalis...
