Nationalist Posted January 2, 2005 Lol I love Idi Amin, when he let all the British bow down to him. Beautiful But what he did to his people is unforgivable.
Separatist Posted January 3, 2005 A typical African despot but at the same time a unique creature. He declared himself King of Scotland, banned hippies and mini-skirts, and appeared at a royal Saudi Arabian funeral in 1975 wearing a kilt. He awarded himself the Victoria Cross, offered to visit Northern Ireland as a peace mediator, and said that he, not the Queen, should be head of the Commonwealth. Quoutes by a bbc jounalist that had an interview with Amin Dada:- By the end of the interview, Amin was back to his benign, childishly humorous persona. From his huge frame, he shook hands powerfully with each of us and declared: "It seems to me the people of Great Britain are getting smaller and smaller". Idi Amin quotes: -------------------------------------------------- I myself consider myself the most powerful figure in the world. ------------------------------------------------ I ate them before they ate me. Coloow Posted January 3, 2005 Gedid, it was reported that Amin met the queen and said "Thank you for the Queen for your hostility (meant hospitality). Before I go to Uganda, I'll pass away in Nairobi".
Gediid Posted January 3, 2005 ^^^LOL The dude was simply outrageous.I heard somewhere that he once awarded the highest award in Uganda to his son who was like 7 years old.During the ceremony with ministers, intellectuals and foreign dignateries present Idi Amin said his son deserved the award because he went through a period so hard that most men would have failed.I think he was reffering to his son's circumscion then..... Xudeedi Posted January 3, 2005 Thanks for posting this humorous story. I used to like the movie they made about his dictatorial rule in Uganda by the famous kenyan actor, forget his name, who typically looked like him. So funny
