This is an advice to the people of Baidoa. I give you this simple recommendation because I think your people are perhaps the least privileged in Somalia in terms of power and providence. Baidoa always bears the brunt of all sufferings in Somalia.

 

My dear beloved Baidoa, you have been dubbed the city of death in mid 90’s.

 

Both the cruel dictator, Barre and his equally cruel warlord, Aideed rampaged your city and went berserk with their atrocious battles against each other on your terrain, thus bringing unbearable pain to your city and people.

 

The world couldn’t watch your starving people. So they came but the world failed to feed you. Why? The world became part of the problem and took sides to prolong your pain. Finally, the relatively powerful forces from the first world were forced to retreat in defeat and shame by ragtag but brave Somali militias who only show their patriotism when they see foreign intervention.

 

Now, it seems history is repeating itself. Back to square one. Baidoa, you are the epicenter of another bloody confrontation which I am sure if you don’t prevent will reproduce the same painful fate again to your people and city. You have both warlord and foreign troops in your midst. You also have passionate forces resolute in their quest to drive out and slay the assailants in your city.

 

This time you can’t blame anyone but yourself. You have let a power-hungry and blood-thirsty warlord to base his violent actions in your city. And you let foreign troops from a fourth world country in your city to instigate their insidious terror on Somalia.

 

You could have told the warlord and his lackeys to pack their bags and go to Bari and Boosaaso. Isn’t that where his powerbase and bankrolling backers are situated?

But the warlord decided to spare Puntland and his people from the consequences of his terrible plan. He instead duped your ****** warlords to give him a place where he could perpetuate his insane plan. He brought his clannish nomadic militias to your city and you know all the atrocities they committed. They look down upon your people. They despise and make fan of your dialect. Ever asked why on earth Yusuf forego a city where all his backers are.

 

Because you lack of common sense, you have become complacent in a very disastrous battle that will make your people become Ethiopian collateral damages. Baidoa, your people will be slaughtered in cruel suicide bombings. Already, the people in Bay region are fleeing their farms and villages on feet. You are already paying a hefty price for the lapse of judgment.

 

Baidoa, you don’t want to end up like Baghdad. You don’t want insurgency and suicide bombings. You don’t want ragtag Tigre and Ethiopian soldiers to abuse and rape your people on daily bases. You don’t want your people end up in refugee camps destitute and hungry. Please listen to the voices of your perceptive young people and religious leaders.

 

In order peace to prevail and your city, people to be safe, Baidao you got to do the right thing. It is not late for you to expel warlord Yusuf, his Ethiopian masters and other warlord puppets out of Baidoa. Do as the people of Mogadishu and Kismayo did. Rise up and join the popular uprising. Ally yourself with Mogadishu and Kismayo. All the goods and services your people depend on come from these two main cities. You have no ports. They are your lifeline. Send Yusuf to Boosaaso. You got no border with that far city. That is where he belongs. Let not your people pay the price for his insanity. Please Baidao, learn from history. No matter how painful it is, you can reverse the mistakes of your warlords. Shaati-gaduud is no better than Mogadishu warlords. He got to go too.

 

I think if you do this and join the people’s revolution, your city will experience the newly found prosperity and peace in other parts of Somalia.
