Honestly, what is the significance of 29th October, everyone knows it was a sad day, why Riyaale is exagerating it and making it as it was Tsunami, even Tsunami didn't have special day as more than half a million people died.

The day deserves to be marked sxb. It was a sad day and will be a lesson to the next, and the next next generations. They should even let one of the places just like that for the tourists and meausium.

 

11 Sept is a day for the US and 29 Oct will be another day for Somaliland.

 

Not a big deal ... marking the day and handling the situation are going side by side.

It is BIG deal sxb, resources and public funds are going to be wasted on a day like dat which doesn't help the people at all, while that would have gone to a better causes such as improving roads and hospitals.

 

Think the BIGGER picture sxb, move on, improving security has to be higher priority, and not creating days that are no use to the public.

Nothing to assume sxb, it is very clear, national days use alot of public funds and resources to be held, very crystal clear, no logic whatsoever in creating 29 october as a National Day.

 

It was very sad day, everyone knows that, exagarating it and taking it into another level is what Riyaale is doing at the moment, and that is not helping the people at all.

We have some other National days that we do not actually celebrate. 27th and 31st of May are good examples. The Jazeera genocide is nother one.

JB this is silly, the human count so small, too small to be a national day or compare to 9/11. If there are another four attacks on SL, are they going to make them also a national day?? :confused: I think lessons learnt and tight security is enough to enable everyone to move forward.

 

The history of SL is full of bloody attacks and wars documented, I don't the see the benefit of adding another one to be marked and taken as a holiday.

@Ibtisam, if SL declares a day to celebrate James Bond or Tiger Woods. JB would come on the forum and say:

 

" this is what other countries do you know, James Bond is a good film which needs to be remembered and when we get indepence we will make golf our nationa sport.

 

 

JB, I don't SPain or Indonesia or Sacudi declared national days when Alqaeda attacked them, or even Turkey, when Kurdish separastists attacked them. I think it just more of the politician trying to create outside enemies and myths to increase nationalism.

If it is full of attacks and wars then let it be coz that is what happened. This is the first time of such kind of attacks ,, it should be marked and if other incidents happen then this is important coz it is where it started first.

 

History should be written and marked ... only guilty persons/groups would like to be hidden and forgotten.
