USS Carl Vinson and USS Harry S. Truman Arrive Off Somaliland Shores as U.S. Navy Eyes Strategic Base in Berbera for War with Houthis.

Aircraft carriers USS Carl Vinson and USS Harry S. Truman are now believed to be operating on Somaliland’s territorial waters, potentially using the Gulf of Aden as a launching pad for an expanded war against Houthi positions in Yemen.

This strategic location just off the shores of Somaliland provides the U.S. Navy with a critical forward operating base, offering direct access to Yemeni airspace and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. But it also places Somaliland, a peaceful and unrecognized state, right on the frontline of a foreign war it did not ask for.

Alongside these carriers, U.S. destroyers such as the USS Stockdale, USS Spruance, and USS Carney have already been engaging Houthi drones and missiles on the Gulf of Aden.

With the war escalating, these vessels—now within striking range of Houthi-held territories—could be preparing for a massive offensive, further militarizing the waters off Somaliland and drawing the region into a widening conflict
