Deeq A. Posted March 17 How many of know that in the Horn of Africa, a distinct ethnic-cultural population lives on their ancestral land called Somaliland? Although captured as a part of Somalia, it is a democratic Republic which declared its independence in 1991, unrecognized by Somalia and by the world at large. International recognition is long due this population developing their own distinct presence in Africa, yearning to be acknowledged as the Continent’s 55th state. Unlike Somalia, Somaliland is peaceful and forward-looking, developing trade and business ties with other countries.
