Somaliland Government Begins Integrating Civilian Forces into the National Army

The Government of the Republic of Somaliland has officially commenced the integration of the first unit of the Civilian Forces into the Somaliland National Army, marking a significant step in strengthening national security and defense capabilities.

The Vice President, H.E. Maxamed Cali Aw Cabdi, presided over the formal ceremony alongside a high-ranking delegation, including the Minister of Defense, the Minister of Transport and Road Development, the Chief of the National Army, the State Minister for Internal Affairs, the Minister of Investment, the Governor of Sanaag, and members of Parliament.

Speaking at the event, the Vice President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to consolidating national security and ensuring a well-structured and unified defense force. He, along with the Chief of the National Army, officially welcomed the newly integrated personnel, emphasizing that they are now a recognized part of the Somaliland National Army, effective immediately.

This milestone reflects the government’s continued dedication to professionalizing and expanding its defense forces in line with Somaliland’s long-term security strategy. The integration process will proceed in phases, with additional units set to be incorporated in the coming days, further reinforcing the country’s security and stability.
