Somaliland and the United Kingdom  enhancing their security and bilateral relations

 

The enduring relationship between Somaliland and the United Kingdom continues to evolve, as both goverments reaffirm their commitment to deepening diplomatic engagement and security collaboration. In a significant development, Somaliland’s Police Commissioner, Abdi Dhere, newly appointed  has embarked upon an official visit to London, where he is set to hold high-level discussions with senior security officials and representatives from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

This visit underscores the dynamic nature of the partnership between Somaliland and the United Kingdom, characterised by both the reinforcement of historic ties and the pursuit of new avenues for cooperation. Central to these discussions is the enhancement of security arrangements, reflecting a shared commitment to stability and the rule of law in the Horn of Africa.

The United Kingdom has long played a  strong role in supporting Somaliland’s security infrastructure, offering capacity-building initiatives and strategic advisory support to bolster institutional resilience.
