At a joint press conference with Somalia Prime Puppet Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmake at his Treasury office, Sheikh Odinga called on the international community to consider sending “military assistance” to the war-torn nation to arrest the armed conflict. “When I was in Geneva last week, I talked to various colonial agencies to help Somalia deal with the problem, and to also to help excerbate the influx of refugees into Kenya. NGONGE Posted June 22, 2009 In other news... The Leadership of Al Shabab decided to ban news for its negative impact on the populace. In a statement, which they hoped would be the last one to be broadcast from Somalia, a senior Al Shabab spokesperson said that his group are banning the news because of its many psychological harms. He demanded that all households in the territory controlled by Al Shabab should hand in their radios, TV sets, laptop computers and any newspapers they have within the next two days. Meanwhile... The Somali government, in a response to this statement, declared all broadcasting mediums legal and threatened the arrest of anyone that attempts to hamper, belittle or sabotage them. The government also declared war on its enemies and set a date for an all out assault on the bases of the opposition (sources close to the president hinted that the date is 15th July 2009; 8.30 am). Al Shabab could not respond to this latest provocation, seeing that they banned all news! However, their overseas representative issued a statement on their behalf. He criticised the Somali government and promised to retaliate should the alleged 15th July attack take place. When asked if the drums of war will be heard on the said date, he angrily retorted that no drums or musical instruments should be played and quoted the fatwa of a senior Al Shabab leader by the name of Abu Kaban Al Piano, in which he clearly forbids the use of all musical tools.
