Deeq A. Posted February 1 “Boosaaso is now experiencing business growth reminiscent of the 1990s” said a member of Boosaaso Business Council. Boosaaso (PP News Desk) — Boosaaso, the commercial city of Puntland State of Somalia, is beginning to reap the benefits of increasing investor confidence since counterterrorism operations against ISIS terrorists began one month ago. ISIS networks throughout Bari have been smashed. Strict residence status checks for foreigners in Puntland have yielded remarkable gains in public trust in the ability of Puntland Defence Forces to target ISIS in their hideouts in the Calmiskaad mountain range. The public has tipped off security forces, helping to foil planned attacks by ISIS on government properties and businesses that supported the counterterrorism operations. At Boosaaso Port, livestock for export to Gulf countries is kept in makeshift pens run by seasonal staff. Consumer goods imported from the UAE are sent as far as Beletweyne. Boosaaso Port now serves districts in Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn, though they are governed by the Sool, Sanaag, Cayn under Puntland State’s federal jurisdiction but governed by SSCK interim administration. Many investors have returned to Boosaaso to launch new ventures. “Boosaaso is now experiencing business growth reminiscent of the 1990s. I thank the Puntland State government for taking the threat of ISIS seriously. ISIS terrorists can no longer freely enter Boosaaso or attempt to extort money from certain businesses. Puntland forces have captured many ISIS hideouts. This progress in the fight against terror translates into investor confidence,” said a senior member of the Boosaaso Business Council. Not far from the Nakheel neighbourhood of Boosaaso, volunteers are preparing food supplies for Puntland Defence Forces. Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni and his Council of Ministers have been in Boosaaso since counterterrorism operations against ISIS began. © Puntland Post, 2025 The post Boosaaso Reaps Investment Gains as Puntland Crushes ISIS appeared first on Puntland Post.
