Weapons

^^Lets not give the kids any ideas, you never know who reads what you type.

I don't think I have ever been in a presence of violent incident taking place, but if it did I would probably help without thinking.

I remember a few years ago in a psychology class, the teacher gave us a scenario on assessing altruism where the following took place. He asked, 'Imagine it was a quiet night, and you were walking home alone, the street is empty, then in the corner of your eye you spot someone being attacked, you don't know if the attacker is using a weapon or not. The victim is lying down and you can see that he/she cannot take any more, would you intervene?' Of a class of about 25 people, me, a Turkish girl, a black guy and one Portuguese guy put up our hands, basically all the foreigners. The rest of them would walk on, some said they might call the police but most didn't want to get 'involved' or give witness statements to the police. Now imagine if that was your sister or brother, you would want someone to help them.

So don't count on any help.

Yes sheh, ur “toughness†bothers me ur full of urself u know. Ill let it slide.

I have sisters and I stress about their safety more then them….if I could I would be their shadow.

Listen independent women too good for muhram….u can’t eliminate the risks… but u can reduce them weapons alone aren’t sufficient….but um sure yall already know these…..women know everything

Some tips: don’t go to parties, if u most go take ur friends, don’t drink unattended drinks, don’t be like Cara….walk w/ ppl after hrs or call campus escort, park at lighted areas, always check the backseat before entering ur car, u hear of the girl filling up her gas, while she was facing the other way, then a dude sneaked in the backseat, know ur surroundings, be alert, have ur keys, mace ready, don’t look vulnerable, know how to change ur tires, always have cell-phone, don’t give rides to strangers or be friendly with them, never pull over for an unmarked police car, take self-defense class, learn about survivor stories, and most important seek in Allah’s refuge and always wear ur full body armor- hijab<<<<<<<this is a must!

^^^^^^^^^^^

But ladies…..don’t statistics say…the woman knows her attacker….

If attacked….(sorry Sheh….Allah forbid)……the dude has a plan, take victim to a second location…...thus don’t cooperate…attract attention....yell and fight like a mutha. be prepared for all situations ladies….there’s more but thats all I can think now. And enjoy life…don’t live in fear. :D

^^^^^^

Aight sheh….Is that cool? Betta be cool

Lilly. u hear of 38th who saw murder and didn’t call the police? 38 ppl watched for more then hour a woman stalked and stabed three different times, killer even ran after seeing lights and hearing voices but came back to finish job. they say the less number the witnesses better of getting helped ppl don’t want to get involved if u see another human being in need help them, or at least call the police subhanallah xaasidnimo/selfishness is not good.

Khalaf, you don't need a Murhram everytime you leave the house. I heard that the Prophet's (SAW) saying that there will come a time when women will travel alone freely is not necessarily a negative comment. Lakin Allah knows best and I'm not knowledgable on these things.

I heard about the 38th, it's hard to believe.

Teehee. I know what I am and what I am capable of, good and bad. I'm full of self-knowledge. Slide that.

I see you have been busy Googling- a lot of tips there, some of which echo my own. Do you remember?

What u listed relates to an attacker w/out a weapon….what if he has gun and catches u off guard….what would u do tough sheh? And Allah forbid u or any other sister be in that situation.

That was your response to my tips- u couldn't resist finding a bullet hole in what I had to say. Yet you still haven't provided a solution to your eye-rolling challenge yourself. I hope you are rolling your eyes at yourself now or have u changed your mind about it all just because Google said?

No google sis….um full of awareness/tips…I can school u if u like. ;)

Nah uqti…..ur tips were in regards to defense against an attacker w/out a weapon….I asked a legitimate question….the answer I gave I saw on American Most Wanted….. the experts said the victim to fight back and not cooperate.

Take care.

Not Google but America's Most Wanted. OK. :D

One thing I now know is that u either do not understand what I'm saying or u ignore it altogether. Either way waan ku gu wareeraya if I continue to engage u and it won't help the topic one bit.

P.S: constant references to how u see my character will not make your arguments stronger.

Cara.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Speaking of weapons, there was a time that shop robbery was common in our place, and of course it's against the law to carry a weapon. So my dad used to carry a hammer in his pocket on his way home, just incase someone jumped him, and his excuse to the police would be, "i was going to fix my door."

I now have a hammer in my car, it's legal after all smile.gif

Blessed

How does the weapon in car thing work.

My only weapon is my camera phone. When the creeps in the jeeps try to hassel me, I get out my camera phone and tell em to say 'bedeekh'... They suddenly remember that they were in a rush to get somewhere.

Everytime we are home alone I collect all the major big knifes and put them under my bed. I read somewhere that 80% of people are killed with their own kitchen knifes. I never understood those people who leave them out on the worktop for decoration, bread cutting knifes, meat knifes, veggi choppers...shivers. I try to keep the big knifes out of the way anyway.

Lily subhanallah  Inshallah next time I visit and you ask me to come and spend the night. I will say no,I have seen people who sleep walk and have nightmares. Who do some outrageous things. lool Lily you scare now dear.

I don't have any weapons in my car, but I have a pepper spray. And also I took a self defense class .

I never used to carry any in my car. That's the beauty of living in a small suburban town where these creepy incidents you hear on the news rarely happen - the closest to any crime was a little xaafad Somali which I rarely visited.

So how does it work, what do you say, wait, let me go to the boot to collect my weapon, can you give a few seconds then attack?? I would run them over, hit them with the car and lock all the windows, kick the door on his balls. You are more likely to be attacked walking, and then your car weapon is no use as it is not on your person.

I stopped listening to music/talks/Quaran when walking, because 4years ago, some creep followed me from the cash point, to my house and inside the lift. He was screaming at me to give him the money, and I was asking him what floor he was heading to as I could not hear him [was lip reading, waiting for hand indication of floor]. Until he grabbed me, started to shake and hit me. I screamed so loud in his face, he jumped back. I kicked, punched, all the while screaming loudly(partly because I still head the headphones on). We fell on the floor and rolled around, I tipped everything out of my bag in the struggle (I did not want him to take my credit cards and house key.) He bruised me good, but in the end, he run off/limped my empty hand bag with just the money in the side pocket. I got up, collected all my other things (phone, cards, keys, the damn CD player) and went upstairs to my house, then called the police.

I even managed to identify him in a line up 9months letter when it all went to trail (Apparently I was a long line of women he attacked). He came out two years later on parole, I heard he committed suicide not long after. I feel sorry for him now.

Anyway forget the car weapon, kick as*s Sheh style if you are attacked and don't listen to anything when walking alone, particularly if you stop to take out the hagbaad money. Funnyly enough I've not been in a Hagbaad since either.
