GLENDALE, Calif. -- A California man will face homicide charges following Wednesday morning's commuter train crash in Glendale that claimed 10 lives.

Police in the Los Angeles suburb said a suicidal driver parked his Jeep Cherokee on the tracks but changed his mind about dying and jumped out of the vehicle. Authorities said a Metrolink train hit the SUV, derailed, then hit another train.

Glendale Police Chief Randy Adams has identified the man as Juan Manuel Alvarez, 26, of Compton. Adams said terrorism was not involved.

In addition to the 10 people killed, more than 100 were injured when the commuter train hit the SUV.

Glendale Police Chief Randy Adams said a southbound commuter train struck the vehicle and derailed, causing the train to strike a northbound train.
