Illyria Posted Wednesday at 02:36 PM With this plan coupled with its natural habitat, if implemented and managed correctly, with stability, and under the right leadership, and with an estimated 600,000 +/- IDPs, mostly of farming and rural background, the city and region could realise steady growth and development where Baydhaba could potentially be the next largest population hub in Somalia. City-wide plan: development framework, p.102 The Strategy was developed under the Saameynta (Impact in Somali) Programme, is a multi-year project aimed at promoting the sustainable integration of displaced communities in urban areas by empowering governments to leverage value generated by urbanization. Saameynta is a partnership of IOM, UNDP, UN-Habitat, supported and coordinated by the Integrated Office of the UN DSRSG/ RC/HC and endorsed by the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development of the Federal Republic of Somalia. It is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Netherlands and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.” BaidoaCityStrategy.pdf

Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar Posted 14 hours ago Baydhabo shalay ayaa ka soo noqday after six days. I also spent six days in Baydhabo on last month. First time since January, 1991, after Xamar ka qaxnay. Horumarkeeda iyo horumarka socdo caadi ma'aha. Great roads, huge new buildings, businesses and homes. New airport terminal is under construction as well. The main avenue that goes to Xamar, its construction will start next month as I was told. That will be a game changer since this road is the heart of the city. It also has the largest garden park in Soomaaliya, Beerta Baydhabo (Baydhabo City Park). It took me more than half an hour to explore it around. I was told the guy who built it spent a couple million dollars to invest. It was worth it.
