Garowe (PP News Desk) — Nugaal team secured a 4-2 victory to win the Puntland regional football championship. Six other regional teams contested this year’s trophy.

The final match took place at Mire Aware Stadium in Garowe today. In the first half, Nugaal scored two goals. In the second half, Nugaal team scored two more goals. Undeterred by Nugaal’s momentum, Bari responded with two goals before the end of the match.

Nugaal supporters celebrated the victory in the streets of Garowe. The Puntland State Football Federation organised the tournament, which showcases the football talent in Puntland State, Somalia.

A retired football coach in Garowe remarked that the level of sportsmanship shown by the players reflected the rigorous training they underwent before and during the tournament.

“Puntland can now establish district football teams to contest for an annual cup, similar to the pre-1991 General Da’ud Premiership in Mogadishu,” said the retired coach.
