Puntland Police Force Launches Recruitment Drive for University Graduates

Garowe (PP News Desk) — The Puntland Police Force has held  a series of meetings aimed at providing updates and announcing recruitment opportunities for educated youth through Puntland State of Somalia. Brigadier General Caydiid Axmed Nuur, Deputy Commander of the Puntland Police Force, chaired  the first of these meetings. The Minister of Youth and Sports Hodan Said Hassan and other key stakeholders participated in the meeting.

The meeting, which brought together members of the police recruitment and selection committee, university administrators, and university students, focused on highlighting the benefits of joining the Puntland Police Force, particularly for university graduates.

Building on this initiative, further meetings were held in Qardho on 5 December and Bosaso on 8 Decembe. Senior Officer Abdirisak Ismaaciil Hassan (Darwiish), Deputy Head of Public Relations and Human Rights for the Puntland Police facilitated these meetings. Participants included police commanders from the Karkaar and Bari regions, officers from regional police forces and representatives from various voluntary and business sectors.

The discussions emphasised the importance of creating opportunities for educated youth to contribute to security and governance in Puntland State of Somalia. Participants were encouraged to explore career options within the Puntland Police, with specific attention paid to the force’s plans to recruit 500 new officers—both men and women—based on strict selection criteria.

“These meetings reflect our commitment to building a professional and inclusive police force that represents all segments of society,” said Senior Officer Darwiish.

Participants were given the opportunity to ask commanders and recruitment committee members questions on the transparency of the recruitment process.

The Puntland Police Force reiterated its commitment to enhancing the security of Puntland State of Somalia through a transparent and inclusive employment process.
