Gaalkayo (PP News Desk) — Ali Haji Warsame, a former Somali presidential candidate and former Puntland State education minister, drew attention to the state of neglect evident at Abdullahi Yusuf Airport in Galkayo. Named after the former President of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the founding president of Puntland State of Somalia, the late Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, the Galkayo airport has a runway that resembles gravel.

“It is unfortunate that after President Sharif Ahmed named the airport after President Abdullahi Yusuf, it can hardly be called an airport. It shows how successive Puntland presidents have neglected the airport and disregarded the history of Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, who founded Puntland State and made Villa Somalia the presidency of the Federal Government of Somalia again,” tweeted Warsame.

Warsame was attending a funeral held in Galkayo for Senator Mohamud Yusuf (Gaagaab), who passed away earlier this week in Turkey. The former Somali Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi and the Deputy Speaker of the Upper House, Abdullahi Ali Hersi, attended the funeral in Galkayo.
