Kismaayo (PP News Desk) — The Vice President of Jubaland State of Somalia, Mohamud Sayid Aden, today accused the Federal Government of Somalia of deploying troops to Raaskaambooni. “The aim of deploying troops to Raaskaambooni is to overthrow the Jubaland State administration. When ATMIS vacated bases such as Raaskaambooni and other parts of Jubaland, the constitutional Jubaland Dervish Forces took over because the Federal Government of Somalia claimed it was unable to deploy the national army. When we requested a brigade of the Somali army as reinforcement in Ceelwaaq, the government deployed ill-disciplined soldiers who looted from citizens. We asked for a federal martial court to put the suspects on trial, but the federal government insisted that the suspects should be tried in the Jubaland martial court,” Mohamud said.

The Jubaland Vice President deplored the decision to deploy Türkiye-trained Somali soldiers to fight other Somali forces instead of focusing on terror groups. “Political differences should be addressed through dialogue. Constitutional amendments require consensus,” he added.

Jubaland State has given the Federal Government of Somalia a two-week ultimatum to withdraw troops from Raaskaambooni.
