Congratulations to Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi for his victory in Somaliland’s election and thank you to outgoing president Muse Abdi Bihi for his hard work over the years.

Great getting to know the new administration and I look forward to working with them.

Yet again, Somaliland has set an example to the wider region by holding a free and fair election.

Progress and stable governance must be rewarded – that’s why it’s time for the UK to recognise Somaliland.
