NGONGE Posted November 7, 2006 Her: Oh doctor, I'm in trouble. Him: Well, goodness gracious me. Her: For every time a certain man Is standing next to me. Him: Mmm? Her: A flush comes to my face And my pulse begins to race, It goes boom boody-boom boody-boom boody-boom Boody-boom boody-boom boody-boom-boom-boom, Him: Oh! Her: Boom boody-boom boody-boom boody-boom Him: Well, goodness gracious me. Him: How often does this happen? When did the trouble start? You see, my stethoscope is bobbing To the throbbing of your heart. Her: What kind of man is he To create this allergy? It goes boom boody-boom boody-boom boody-boom Boody-boom boody-boom boody-boom-boom-boom, Him: Oh! Her: Boom boody-boom boody-boom boody-boom Him: Well, goodness gracious me. Him: From New Delhi to Darjeeling I have done my share of healing, And I've never yet been beaten or outboxed, I remember that with one jab Of my needle in the Punjab How I cleared up beriberi And the dreaded dysentery, But your complaint has got me really foxed. Her: Oh. Her: Oh doctor, touch my fingers. Him: Well, goodness gracious me. Her: You may be very clever But however, can't you see, My heart beats much too much At a certain tender touch, It goes boom boody-boom boody-boom boody-boom Boody-boom boody-boom boody-boom-boom-boom, Him: I like it! Her: Boom boody-boom boody-boom boody-boom Him: Well, goodness gracious me. Him: Can I see your tongue? Her: Aaah. Him: Nothing the matter with it, put it away please. Her: Maybe it's my back. Him: Maybe it is. Her: Shall I lie down? Him: Yes. Her: Ahhh... Source --------------------------------- I think I need to see a doctor

Chimera Posted November 10, 2006 On Nov. 14, The California Wellness Foundation (TCWF) will honor these three grassroots activists with its 14th annual California Peace Prize at a ceremony in Los Angeles. In recognition of their efforts to prevent violence and promote peace, the honorees will each receive a cash award of $25,000. source Sahra Abdi - one of three winners of the 2006 California Peace Prize Abdi is program coordinator at the City Heights Wellness Center in San Diego, a partnership between Children's Hospital and Scripps Health. She oversees the Hooyo Health program, which provides education and support for Somali and East African mothers. In her previous position, at Social Advocates for Youth San Diego, Abdi was involved in parenting classes and youth groups that taught anger and stress management to parents and children. A decade ago, when Abdi arrived in the United States, she realized that the Somali community needed help in adapting to their new environment. The immigrants and their children had left a country embroiled in civil war, where constant violence was the usual way of life. “It is important to have different ethnic groups participating in the planning and implementation of new policies and programs,” Abdi said. “As advocates of positive change, we should always engage community members in solving problems that concern them.” masha-allah i had to post this before i hit the bed masha-allah
Chimera Posted November 11, 2006 Dr. Cadigia Ali, a Somali Canadian who is running in a tough race against incumbent Rob Ford, This is what the star wrote about Cadigia Ali “Barely 2 years in Canada, Cadigia Ali an Italian trained Somali Doctor was already steeped in volunteer work for the United Way, Canadian Red Cross and community groups in Etobicoke when the star noticed her work in 1993. 13 Years later she hasn’t stopped. She is running “because we don’t have a positive advocate. We need a builder, not a divider, someone who really cares and is an advocate.” The Toronto Star on why Cadigia Ali deserves to be elected to city council (October 28, 2006) http://www.hiiraan.com/news2/2006/nov/ontario_municipal_election_somali_canadian_prospective.aspx
Centurion Posted December 24, 2006 I've watched a documentary about that 'dutch' writer from a couple of pages back. She went back to Somalia, and boy is she ******! i couldn't believe how dutch she was/became. They way she talked, described, walked was as if she was a white dutch journalist. her Somali is broken and she has this really condescending tone of voice. anyway Isn't it interesting that all the women so far, bar the physician-girl, are all older women? Where are our younger lasses?
