ZAKARIA77 Posted June 11, 2006 Are the Islamic courts trying to imposse Taliban like rule over Mogadishu residents? What ever the case might be, i hope they change their mind and allow the residents to enjoy the world cup with rest of the world... Modesty Posted June 11, 2006 That's absurd, and how in the world is it unislamic to watch a game? They shouldn't even be called "islamic militia".

Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar Posted June 11, 2006 Yaaba is gaaray. Wax badan ayaa soo socdo. Embrace yourself, reer Muqdisho. Maanta banooni ayaa ciyaareynay, sheekadaan ayaa lasoo qaaday oo salaada maqribka markii la gaaray meesha ku tukaneynay. Mid nala ciyaaro banooniga oo salaada ku fiicneen ayaa lagu dhahay hadaa Xamar tagtid salaatada waa laguugu qasbaa, oo garkana ma xiiri kartid lagu lee yahay, oo surwaalkana gaabi laguugu daraa. Dadkii dhan waala wada qoslay, oo ciyaar u maleeyeen, laakiin wey dhacee hadee dadkaan surwaalka gaaban awood weyn helaan. They, in their pre-powerless days, already banned Hindi and other movies played at makeshift mini-shaneemooyin at the last Ramadaan; they also banned celebrating sanadka cusub eve at hoteelada [which, in the rarest of all, I agree with them]. They, Eebbe forbid, also quietly discourage celebrating Koowda Luuliyo, too, since they consider it to be a 'secular' holiday.
-Serenity- Posted June 11, 2006 This is hilarious. Am just curious tho, dont the residents have cable TV's at home? I heard Mogadishu is booming in the telecommunications and media department and most houses are hot wired with the latest musalsalo from carabta and other channels. Mr.Faarax Posted June 11, 2006 This whole story sounds fishy' or maybe we have become too wester that we resent anything islamic....either the case I see fingers being pointed- and this time i dont think any muslim would go as far as pointing the finger at those who are ordering good and forbidding evil. Unless u want alot of tornment in the hereafter. As far as world cup' I think they are over hyping this story to make it look like the courts are the bad guys. Since when did TV and music and parties become the symbol for freedom? bla bla bla- talk about the real oppressors and trangressors. uuuw and u think it is the taliban or somaliban whatever u call the muslims. Peash!

Baluug Posted June 11, 2006 My opinion is somewhere between Mr Faarax's and Rudy's. I can see them wanting to stop the cinemas playing movies and stuff, it's just a waste of time anyways, but banning the soccer games is taking it a little too far. But speaking of taking it too far, is how some soccer fans react when their fav team loses, and in a country like Somalia, where they're trying to bring back peace, I can imagine some fans may go overboard and fight against fans of other teams, and what's next? Another gun battle in the streets! You never know, that might be the reason why the courts have done this. The last thing Muqdisho needs is another reason to fight against each other. P.S. Can we please stop using that s*tupid word "Islamist"? I am sick of hearing this word, which is erroneous. We are not "Islamists" and we do not follow "Islamism". We are MUSLIMS and we follow ISLAM!! Dhubad. Posted June 11, 2006 They actually haven't banned football, but they have closed some cinemas where they show porn movies at night and football during the day. So what is the fuss? Infact you lot are Seef Labood you hear something and you believe it straight away.

There after the world cup finishes, They start watching X-RATED films which is Un- Islamic did u guyz really understand it that way... Nobody raised an serious alarm when they did that even before the World Cup.. So what?
nemo Posted June 12, 2006 Woow MC XAMAR marshallah brother that was excellent and coming from someone that is not a somali. You know more than alot whats good for somalis at the current situation. My opinion is NEVER trust the media and stuff. Stick to our brothers and sisters back home that are trying to re-build the country. Hopefully we can return there and live there peacefully. Amin. Meaning they colsed cinemas that show both football(during the day) and X-rated movies(after football - mainly at night), and the media twisted the story by saying they are outlawing football. Do u understand now?
Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar Posted June 12, 2006 Propaganda? Hokey, let's forget Reuters and see how Soomaali "news" sites are reporting: Dhanka kalena labo ruux ayaa dhaawacantay kadib markii ay maleeshiyooyin ka amar qaata Midowga maxkamadaha Islaamka ay weerar ku qaadeen goob Shineemo ah oo lagu daawanayay ciyaaraha Adduunka , waxaana falkaas ay sameeyeen Maleeshiyooyinka Maxkamadaha difaacay Guddoomiye ku xigeenka Midowga Maxkamadaha Islaamka Shiikh C/qaadir Cali Cumar oo sheegay in ay howlgalkoodaas kaga hortegayeen in la marin habaabiyo Caruurta Muslimka. Laakin dadka Muqdisho ayaa qaarkood waxay la yaaban yihiin go'aannada ka soo baxaya Midowga Maxkamadaha kadib markii ay Magaalada inteeda badan qabsadeen, “Isla marka ay guuleystaan Midowga Maxkamadaha Islaamka, waxaan fileynay in aan xornimo heli doonnoâ€sidaasi waxaa yiri Aadan Xaashi Cali oo ah Wiil Dhalinyaro ah oo Muqdisho ku nool, “Laakin hadda waxayba naga hor joogsadeen in aan daawanno Ciyaaraha Adduunkaâ€ayuuna hadalkiisa ku sii daray.
