His mandate is NOT seven years. Don't normalise this nasty political fraud. He must break this cycle of chaos and hold all the upcoming elections on time.

Hargeisa (HOL) — Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi congratulated President-elect Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro on his election victory, pledging to ensure a peaceful power transfer.

In a statement at the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa on Wednesday, Bihi thanked supporters of his Kulmiye Party and urged them to accept the opposition Waddani Party's decisive win.

"I pledge my full support for a smooth transition of power. May your tenure bring peace, progress, and enduring success to our beloved nation. To my fellow citizens, I thank you for granting me the privilege to serve as your president. While my term ends, my commitment to the betterment of our nation remains steadfast. Let us stand united and work together for the prosperity of Somaliland," Bihi said.

Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, 69, of the opposition Waddani Party, secured over 50% of the vote in November's election, defeating Bihi, who garnered just over 30%. Abdullahi, a former Speaker of Somaliland's Parliament in 2005, centered his campaign on democratic reforms, addressing youth unemployment, and economic challenges.

The election marked a significant milestone for Somaliland's democratic tradition, despite being delayed twice since 2022 due to funding and logistical issues.

International and regional leaders, including the United States, Djibouti's President Ismail Omar Guelleh, and Somali federal government leaders, have congratulated Abdullahi on his victory. They praised Somaliland for its peaceful electoral process and commitment to democratic principles.
