Jacaylbaro Posted November 13, 2007 Hargeisa(Qaran)-The President of Somaliland, Daahir Rayaale Kahin met with a large delegation from the United Nations at his offices in Hargeisa. The delegation led by Mr.Erich Laroche, the UN Co-Ordinator based in Nairobi, Kenya, included several officers from the UNDP, UNICEF and UNOCHA. The discussion between President Riyaale and the UN delegation consisted of a frank exchange on matters of co-operation between Somaliland and the United Nations. President Riyaale gave the delegation a brief summary of the situation in Sool, and encouraged the UN to play a large role in rehabilitating the region. Speaking on behalf of the UN delegation, Mr.Laroche once again thanked the people and the government of Somaliland for the warm welcome afforded to all UN visitors and workers. Mr.Laroche emphasised that the peace and security prevailing in Somaliland makes it possible for the United Nations and its agencies to undertake projects in the country, and he also stated that the UN will began to undertake more projects in the Sool and eastern Sanaag.
