Despite being underpinned by strong diaspora ties, the trade relationship between the United Kingdom and Somalia remains surprisingly weak and volatile. The Somali federal parliament includes about 15 members of parliament (MPs) of dual British nationality, reflecting the significant relationship between the UK and Somalia.
