He emphasized that the officers around Liido Beach were being held accountable but did not provide details on the number of arrests or the identities of those detained. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Barre convened an emergency security meeting on Saturday, urging security agencies to remain vigilant in the wake of the attack. In March, the government arrested 16 people in connection with the March 14 attack on the upscale SYL Hotel near the presidential palace. The Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) identified the suspects, including a man accused of being the mastermind behind the attack, as facilitating the smuggling of vehicles used by al-Shabab militants.
