Coloow Posted December 31, 2006 The following was first released on Radio muqdisho in october 1963 by Careeys Ciise Kaarshe (I have done my own intepration on some of the lyrics). I came across this when I found an article on somali liberation songs on the NFD by Colin Legum in the journal of modern african studies, Vol 1, No 4. (dec 1963) As I said.... One dies for a cause, Otherwise I say, Does the laver (those who wash dead bodies) aks questions when faced with the dead? Can one pray without cleansing onself first? How can an amputed man sleep comfortably at night? My friend this is how it is with them The injirleeys are back (my addition) The lackeys are back (my addition) The warlords are back (my addition) The roadblocks are back, The tribalists are back (my addition) The forces of darkness are back, beating the drums of satan (my addition) The Injirleey nation posses weapons, they have manufactured rockets, They match at night to search for us, But the somalis They just sleep and wear watches, and if they have money in their pockets, They buy qaad (my addition) If they think they think for the tribe If they can write they write for their tribes If they surf they do it for the sheydhaan This is not freedom, You must be sweat for it, For Allah to compensate you, Oh Allah, the helper It is our duty to kneel before you, Nu human being is entitled to this privelege You always upheld justice, Please give us peace, Help us rid ourselves of the plague of tribalism, Please help us rid ourselves of the cholera of warlordism, Please help us beat the injirleeys, The IUC brought us hope, The IUC was your creation, But I mean, A child does not walk the first day it is born But after suffering difficulties, You (Allah) makes it easier for it (the child) We are in a similar position, We have been oppressed for long You gave food to your slave who starved Then he became a master Some of my people say we have a president, Others say we have a parliament Some of them say we have a primeminster, Oh Allah help my people to cleanse their tongues Otherwise I say, The day when Ali wielded his sword To cut off the heads of the infidels Echoes in my mind and our (turn is drawing) near.
