Deeq A. Posted July 30 Las Anod ( PP News Desk) — The Administration of Sool, Sanaag, Ceyn and Khaatumo has introduced a 5% value-added tax on sales. The nascent administration is based in Las Anod, a city that is recovering from six months of indiscriminate shelling and siege by forces loyal to the Somaliland administration, a secessionist entity which claims to have unilaterally seceded from the Federal Republic of Somalia. A 5% value-added tax on sales introduced by SSCK Interim Administration is expected to contribute to funding delivery of services by the administration. The SSCK Finance Ministry is exploring ways to charge VAT on sales by retailers without cash registers. The VAT, along with income tax levied on salaries, companies and private educational institutions, is expected to boost the revenues of the administration. The SSCK Finance Ministry has undertaken a successful awareness campaign about taxes to fund health, education and social services throughout the districts and villages under the interim SSCK administration. © Puntland Post, 2024 The post SSCK Introduces VAT in Las Anod City, Somalia appeared first on Puntland Post.
