Arms Embargo has only been partially lifted and endorsement and subsequent funds were released by the UN-Resolution in November to safeguard the weapons embargo by the new monitoring group, I'm sure they will do their job adequately.

They're tasked with identifying possible transport routes whether it is the sea {possibley a no go area by those wishing to smuggle a few AK47's into Somalia), land (Kenya closed its borders, so did Ethiopia no go through there and forget about Djibouti) and the air! They could appose a no-flying
zone
and
sanctions, what say you Xiin?

I guess that will change the politial situation on the ground I guess inshallah?

^^ :D:D . You could've waxed few deep lyrics there to better capture your excitement, you Sakhar! UN resolutions such as this one would only provide brief diplomatic triumph! It will hardly change much on the ground as long our political impasse continues. If it’s war what you are celebrating for, however, then you will surely be disappointed.

Oday Abdulaahi was given another chance, will he deliver this time?. I very much doubt. His tactics is old. At least his close supporters can breath not to lose their post.

^^Saxib, only Allah has given the old man a chance. None of the armed factions where ready to change the warlords and clan courts. They wanted to keep the land as it was. This is the first break through the TFG has had in two years.

Xiin, saxib, even you know this is a landmark moment. The world is with the legitimate Somali government. Those who came through the barrel of a gun, will now leave through it.. :D

The ban would prohibit participation in the force by troops from Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Kenya — but not Uganda, which is the only country thus far to volunteer troops.

Since Eritrea is not excluded from participation, its impretive for it to take part to catch any Xabashi soldier hiding in Ugandan uniform. icon_razz.gif

On a serious note this quick fix resolution born out of the desperation of a badly bruised US policy will surely backfire as has been witnessed from the defeated Warlords's case.

I thought the ICU were clever enough to understand the intentions of this Resolutions, but they are certainly not. They have reacted in a manner which was expected of them by the drafters of the resolution. They have rejected and promised to militarily retaliate the implementation of this resolution. Which is what the designers of the resolutions hoped for. What the ICU dont recognise is any form of reaction they make now could be interpreted as an act to overthrow or attack the weak TFG in Baydhabo. Hence will excuse the Ethiopians who are already there heavily armed to attack them and their positions.

Look at it from this angle, If the innitial response from the ICU this morning was that they endorse the Resolution in terms of creating a dialogue between them and the TFG, plus affirming and urging the part that calls for the banning of Ethiopians troops to be used as enforcers of the resoltion by requesting the immidiate removal of those that are already present. The ICU would have had, in my opinion, a case. And the first thing to be done would have been the removal of Ethiopian troops before the resolution is called into act.

Alas, it was not meant to be. The ICU being the ICU through their mouth piece Indhacadde and Sheikh Sharif have called for a Jihaad. Hence the rejectionist of the Resolution would not be the Ethiopians who are already armed and present in Somalia clearly already violating the resolution before it even took off, but the ICU who have outrightly rejected as it is and vowed to fight back.

Juje, is close to the truth here. The courts if they continue will meet a biger danger that they are already in.

Suldanaka & Abwan, Eritrea is not that important, it can ill afford to go against the world order, this is the security council we are talking about people,. It also has enough heat with Adis and Khartoum already.

Also dear Suldan, what of Somaliland now, even if the beloved UK has thrown its hat and supports the TFG...Poor you.

Abwan, the old man is the President of Somalia, elected by the representatives of the people. What is so nationalistic about your point? Which was to oppose and demonise every step he takes?

I guess the reason that the UK is supporting on this resolution is not about the Somaliland or TFG. Clancourts' are also treating to new democratic institution of Horn Africa (Somaliland), therefore; UK should not overlook the basic need of Somaliland which is the peace it has now,and addition to that the TFG is not a treat to Somaliland interests, but an ally against USC/ICU. UK previously have atempted to bring Somaliland administration and TFG together.

Count Eritrea out.

The Eritreans know very well that its easier for Ethiopia to capture Asmara than Mugadishu any day.

Eritrea has 1000Km border with Ethiopia. The Eritreans will not a fly cross to ethiopia from their border, in fear of ethiopian action.

Eritrea also very clearly knows that Sudan will not allow it to play shenanigan against ethiopia from their land. On the contrary Sudan has allowed and will allow anyday for Ethiopia to clean some Eritrean shenangian from Sudan.

Djibuti will only do with Eritrea to get them in trouble with Ethiopia, so that Assab stays unused for the longest time, until its turned into pile of rust in the desert.

Yemen also seems to have sent some message to Eritrea. Eritrean dictator seems on the retreat and looking for exit.

Gaddafi who is the real master of eritrea must have warned Isayas that president Abdullahi Yusuf can make him pay unannounced and undeclared way.

People living in glas houses should not play with stone throwing.
