Suldaanka Posted July 3, 2005 ^^^ It is getting there sxb. Yeah almost there. 3 things why Col. Yey's government will be short lived (or maybe it already has, waiting for the official report from the doctor) 1. His personal background (warlord mentality, totaliterian attitude, his pass history etc etc) 2. His No-Mogadishu policy + Habashi Dabadhilifnimo etc 3. Without Mogadishu - he is gonner. And even if he comes to Mogadishu he will always be a Guest to the warlords there. Opportunities are once in lifetime shot, and it seems the Colnel has lost quiet a number of them. Now the only options left for him is either quit (before he is quited) or to the "Maquunin" option. If he chooses the later, he will end up like Morgan. It is better for him to retire now before he looses that chance too.

Peace Action Posted July 3, 2005 Things look bleak for A/Y & Geedi for eight months but it seems their oponents have no vision nor the desire to change the status quo. If they are able to establish themselves somewhere closed to Mogasdishu peacefully time will be on their side. But without pacifying Mog and making the seat of gov,t there, this govt will be disappear like Qasim,s and Mahd,s before.
contraflow Posted July 3, 2005 Things don't look bleak for A/Y and Geedi's government but in actual fact it is. By the end of this month there will be no more 'government'.
General Duke Posted July 3, 2005 ^^^ FirsT of all to the Somalilanders I am happy its getting there but we have heard it before. As for bleak or the end, its the beginning of the restoration of statehood. Somaliland has no power beyound Burco. Oh Edna Aden and Bob Geldof will get recognition.... On a serious note. Warlords in Xamar have no power to remove roadblocks, open port let alone withstand ina Yey. Lets look closer at whats happening, the Sharif group have failed, to even hold a normal session of parlimetn in Xamar. They have failed to remove the roadblocks. they have failed to bring on board powerful business groups in the city.. They have failed to capture Jowhar. Their influance in Kismayu is wanning, even the most ardent supports of government were surprised at this development The government has the support of the people, the Puntland state, regions such as Hiiraan, Gedo, Middle Shabbele, and even large parts of Mogadishu.. For Somalilanders, names like Aydeed Jr, Koogare, Abukar Cadane, Engineer Enow, Bashir Raage, Mohamed Dheere can be researched to know how important these individuals are. The AU, Arab league, EC hence the attacks on Ethiopia, Yemen and Italy. Soon Libya.. The UN is funding the governmet while ignoring the Mogadishu warlords. Indeed much is changing but its bleak for the naysayrs and not the TFG...
Maalqabeen Posted July 4, 2005 Are Somalilanders still doubting C/laahi Yusuf’s capacity to deal with his enemies ? After all what happened as C/laahi Yusuf was the president of puntland. Just a little reminder. at that time Somaliland was his enemy and after all the talks and blabla Somaliland got humiliated on Politic Front, Economic Front and Military Front, an first class humiliation from Ina Yeey and you are still doubting Ina Yeey’s capacity Or are guys you hoping that he fails ? Saxardiid Posted July 4, 2005 maybe it was bleak for the president few months back for his inaction but know him and his gov are taking the initiative. They outmonuvoring the warlord thugs in mogadishu while they building thier support in many regions. I can understand why some people want him to fail because him putting right policis, strategies and work plans unlike his adversaries in Mog.
BN Posted July 4, 2005 ^^Well said. This government is finally starting to establish itself at home, things are looking brighter.
Sky Posted July 4, 2005 True say, instead of people screaming about "inactions", "war will happen!" and "this government is dead!", give this new infant government time to do it right and be careful. After all this is our last chance even if new peace talks are to occur. Let C/Y and Geedi do what they were chosen for in the first place. Let them take the time to secure funds, build up local support, establish itself as thé Somali government, plan strategies and policies and implement them. PS: Its funny that the people that were screaming "huuhaa C/Y is going to attack, wage war, take revenge etc." are also complaining about his socalled "inactions". Why? You want this government to fail so badly? Nobody cares if you have a sick hate for C/Y (For goodness sake go to therapy before it consumes your life. Oops too late!), but don't be so xaasid to deny Somalia to regain it's normalcy, let alone it's lost glory. Guul iyo Jano!
