Liibaan Posted November 18, 2010 Dr. Gaboose - with Siyad Barre trips before and now with Silanyo By Madeshi - A known Somalidiid writer, and Qabiilmews.com contributor Harowo Somaliland News http://harowo.com/2010/11/17/dr-gaboose-with-siyad-barre-trips-before-and-now-with-silanyo/ Doctor Gaboose, the current interior minister of Somaliland has been the personal doctor of his relative Dictator Mohamed Siyad Barre until the early 1991s. He has often flown with Barre for trips around the world and was among the most trusted personal doctors of the late dictator whose army levelled most of Somaliland cities. The same Doctor Gabooose is now accompanying president Silanyo of Somaliland in his trip to Ethiopia and then to the United Kingdom ,as local sites reported. Dr. Gaboose is Somali born to a mother of the ******* clan of Somalia and a father from Somaliland. He is a southerner who has little in touch with the culture of the locals and Somaliland traditions. He is a man that has always sought power through wealth and deception. He is currently the whip of president Silanyo against the people of Somaliland, particularly those that inhabit in Oodweyne and Sanaag. Background: 1. The Somali regime that Gaboose served : In 1969, during the power vacuum that followed the assassination of Somalia's second president, Abdirashid Ali Shermarke, the military staged a coup on October 21, (the day after Shermarke's funeral), and took over office. Barre was installed as president of the Supreme Revolutionary Council (SRC), the new government of Somalia. The SRC arrested members of the former government and banned political parties. The National Assembly was also abolished and the constitution suspended. The country was renamed the Somali Democratic Republic, and Barre became the spokesman and leader of the new revolutionary government. In 1971, he announced the regime's intention to phase out military rule. Barre's first and second vice presidents, Jama Korshel and Mahammad Ainanshe, were both arrested and imprisoned in 1970 and 1971 for attempting to overthrow the SRC regime. They were eventually executed .Siyad Barre was driven out Somali Melitais and later died in Nigeria in 1995. 2. The Somali National Movement ( SNM) that fought against Siyad Barre . in April 1981, a group of ***** dissidents (of which I was one of them ) living in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia formed the Somali National Movement (SNM), and at the end of 1981 it was announced in London, which subsequently became one of the Somalia's various freedom movements. The fighters wanted to overthrow Siad BarreSiad Barre's dictatorship and end the suffering of the people of Northern Somalia (currently Somaliland ). The SNM captured most parts of Somaliland in 1991 and declared the secession of Somaliland from Somalia in 1991. It is a shame that change has not been seen through Kulmiye leadership as expected by the people of Somaliland . Instead , old foes of Somaliland people became the new head of ministries in the country and are now representing the Somaliland public aboard. One may ask "why all the deaths and struggle during the SNM fighting in the 1980s if the same leaders in the old regime will simply relocate to the new administrations in Somaliland. The same goes for the former government of Riyale whose cabinet was also dominated by Siyad puppets." Unless President Silanyo fulfils the change that he has promised during his election campaign and cleans his cabinet by removing those that have stained records, then Somaliland people will not trust the new leadership and may not give their support to the ruling party in future elections .
