Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — The relatives of the late Somali businessman Haji Ibrahim Uunlaaye have accused the eponymous Hormuud Company of illegally constructing retail units on plots of land in central Mogadishu belonging to the family of the late businessman, who owned landmark buildings in the capital city of Somalia.

The Unlaaye family owns prime real estate in downtown Mogadishu, particularly in the Hamarweyne and Shangaani districts, where two of the late businessman’s cinema houses—Cinema Centrale and Cinema Hamar—were located. The Uunlaaye family owns a one-time shopping centre near Elgaab Cinema, close to De Martino Hospital in Mogadishu. Uunlaaye was known for his philanthropic activities throughout Somalia.

“We call on Ahmed Jimale, [the founder and major shareholder of Hormuud], to respect the property rights of Uunlaaye’s offspring,’ said one of the relatives, who made the appeal in Bosaso. The Hormuud Conglomerate executives have yet to respond to the trespass accusations.
