raadamiir Posted October 14, 2006 Somalia: Three Islamists get wounded in gunfight in the port town of Kismayu Aweys Osman Yusuf Mogadishu 14, Oct.06 ( Sh.M.Network) At least three people were wounded in an exchange of gunfire that took place in the Islamic Courts administered port city of Kismayu on Friday overnight. Two of the three wounded were Islamists who were attacked at their barracks, former butchering factory, in Kismayu. Unknown gunmen had ambushed one the Islamic Courts bases, triggering a sudden Islamists reprisal. The gunfight lasted 3hrs. The gunmen reportedly escaped. Islamic Courts security officer in Lower Jubba province Abdulahi Ahmed Warsame has told Shabelle the Islamic forces in Kismayu had been given a surprise attack. “The Islamic Courts forces based in the former butchery factory had been attacked last night and three of the forces were wounded but the forces resisted, making the attackers retreatâ€, Warsame said, vowing they would track down and capture the perpetrators. At least three riots staged against the Islamic Courts forces happened in Kismayu after they seized the town without a single shot. This is, however, the first direct clash between the Islamic Courts who seized the port city 25 September and remnants in favor of the chased warlord and Somalia’s defense minister Barre Adan Shire Hirale. These are men who first refused to fight for Barre because they believed they should not fight againt the "Islamic Courts". After witnessing the actions, including bililiqo, of the city, they have been secretly leaving Kismaayo to make a base in a town 30 miles to Kismaayo called Beerxaani.
