Somaliland and Ethiopia signs "Historic" MoU on access to Red Sea and Establishment of Naval Base

Recommended Posts

The talks were meant to fail, I have my doubts about Turkiya sincerity on this, they made it asif Ethiopia changed their mind, all Ethiopia wanted was legitimate their claims, and want new territories under Ethiopia sovereign control.

Why would Ethiopia drop the mou it uses to bargain with the bunker to get a suitable deal with out international black clash  if they were to go ahead with it . It would cause a lot problems since they have troops there they don’t want to lose their leverage inside the bunker I think they want to work all angles before they decide anything . Somalia wants Ethiopia to recognise its sovereignty Ethiopia says we want a sea out let we can own lease for a period of time. For us to respect ur sovereignty now the ball is in the court of the koonfurians  will they call out the bluff of the Ethiopians or hope Ethiopia wil back down only Sunday abiye said that a country of 120 million people can’t live ina geographic prison it cannot happend and it will not happen. I think  he is working on a plan to get a sea out let via Somaliland if every other angle is no longer an option. And it is the only option and the only thing he has to is recognise Somaliland independence if that is met  the govt in hargeisa is willing to work with him , but we are not there yet first we need another round of talks with the bunker  the Ethiopians have some more other tricks for Somalia . Let’s see how that goes

Xaaji, caqliga yar ka shaqeeysii, Biihi seriously want to sell and give away Somali territory, and it is for good, believe me, this is Zionists landing in Palestine in early 1900s. They want foothold

No turkey didn’t say Ethiopia changed its mind  it said that turkey will help Ethiopia to get a sea out let with an agreement with Somalia.  Turkey in other words will help Ethiopians get a sea out let via Somalia govt. only Somalia has to agree on where and when and then Ethiopia will stop the mou with Somaliland that is what turkey said but the bunker rejected to give a sea out let to Ethiopia. Turkey is after it’s own interests it has over two billion dollars investment every year in Ethiopia turkey is playing the mediating game while not having to choose a side but they know their interests

Muuse is working for his own interest and that of Somaliland he found a way to get recognition, I think he has the support in Somaliland mucaraad and muxafaad Ethiopians aren’t as sophisticated as the Israelis and they can’t have our land it’s a lease for half a century we don’t know the ins and our we can discuss this when there is an agreement on the table.  That will be approved by parliament

the. Bunker can stop this very simple instead of talking to Ethiopia in turkey. All they have to do is talk to somaliland with laab furan walaal shalay ana yimid waxba isku darsny hadana waxaygi la noqday ma heshiina labba dal oo jaar ah ma noqona  if the bunker comes to an agreement with somaliland all this can be solved very simply but the bunker wants to keep ignore somaliland and waste its time. Now let’s see where that takes them

So what does this mean Ethiopian and Egypt both having troops in Somalia . Or will Ethiopia exit Somalia and what will this look like . This def is good for Somaliland of Egypt comes to Somalia. Ethiopia must do everything to stop. Egyptian interest in the horn and for to long Egypt was using a unified Somali republic policy to go against Ethiopia interest .  Ethiopia only reason for not going fully behind Somaliland for decades was trying to lose its leverage in Somalia they never wanted to lose that but if they are forced out form Somalia . Then that is good for those in somaliland then Ethiopia do eve thing to go against Somalia and Egyptian Eritrea axis

Abiy has made his mind he will get a port on Red Sea/Gulf of Aden thru force

:An #Ethiopia|n prop video about Assab, #Eritrea. The debate about border demarcation that dominated during the TPLF rule now seems to be over. Abiy appears to have a different plan: to redraw the border. Meanwhile, #PFDJ are passionate about a farm in Gulo Mekeda, #Tigray."

It's another way to confuse and distract. I think we can all agree now they want to annex land and sea.

Sweden has been asked to prevent conflict and war Somalia create the Somaliland and Ethiopia deal

by Qaran News | Aug 22, 2024

The Swedish government has been asked to prevent conflict and war Somalia is creating by the cooperation agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia.
Member of Parliament Markus Wiechel who presented a question to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Tobias Billström in the Swedish Parliament on 20 August 2024, demands that he take diplomatic measures to prevent the conflict in Somalia.
Hon. Wiechel’s questions reads as follows;

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ethiopia and Somaliland, which among other things gives Ethiopia access to the port of Berbera, a very important port on the Gulf of Aden adjacent to the Red Sea, will have far-reaching diplomatic and humanitarian benefits in a strategically very important location. This agreement opens up positive effects that affect millions of people in the region and also has the potential to benefit relations between this region and Europe, and not least Sweden.

Ethiopia has a central role in the region as one of Africa’s most populous nations and a rapidly growing economy. By gaining access to a strategically located port, the country’s capacity to participate in global trade is strengthened, which can result in economic growth, improved infrastructure and a strengthened trade balance. It reduces costs and increases the efficiency of import and export operations, which directly affects food security and can improve the standard of living of millions of people.

Cooperation between Ethiopia and Somaliland also promotes regional integration and security, which is important for stabilizing the Horn of Africa, a historically turbulent region. Stability in Ethiopia and its vicinity means a reduced risk of conflicts and humanitarian crises, which of course has a positive impact outside the region as well.

For Sweden and Europe, a stable and economically stronger Ethiopia means improved trade relations and new investment opportunities. It can lead to increased imports of Ethiopian goods and open doors for European technology and expertise to contribute to local development, including a green transition. Stability in the region also reduces migration and refugee pressure towards Europe through improved living conditions in the home countries.

What is worrying in this situation is the fact that Somalia’s unelected president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has threatened war, as well as approached both Turkey and, most recently, Egypt to strengthen their military capabilities. It is thus a dictator, whose ministers include former terrorist leaders, who, despite having no control over his own territory, is prepared to invade the most democratic country in the region. Worse yet, there is extensive evidence that Somalia is at risk of continuing the ethnic cleansing of Somaliland’s dominant clan (Isaaq) that began during dictator Siad Barre’s time in power.

In light of the above, Foreign Minister Tobias Billström is requested to answer the following question:

Can the Minister consider taking diplomatic steps to prevent Somalia from starting an unnecessary war or possible genocide, and if not, what steps can we expect from the Minister and the Government?

The question of MP Wiechel published on the website of the Swedish Parliament said that the response of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Md. Tobias is expected on September 2, 2024.
