Somalia: Anti-Ethiopian protest rages in Mogadishu

Hundreds of young people have staged demonstrations in north of the Somalia capital Mogadishu on Thursday against the presence of the Ethiopian forces in the country, witnesses said – as dozens of civilians killed in the four days of fighting in Mogadishu.

 

The people took the street of Suuqa Xoolaha village in Huriwa district, the most hotbed area in north of the capital where the government troops always met strong resistance from the suspected Islamic militants.

 

The protestors mostly young men were chanting anti Ethiopian slogans and throwing stones at the business shops telling them to join the rally.

 

It is the second time within a week that dwellers in Huriwa district protested against the Ethiopians.

 

Abdi Weyte, a local resident told Somalinet by the phone that demonstrators burnt the Ethiopian flag and blocked all roads.

 

The latest rally came as the allied troops of Ethiopia and Somalia conduct constant security raids in Huriwa district where the militants ambushed the local municipal yesterday.

 

Mogadishu, the war-ravaged city in Somalia, has been a battle zone between the Ethiopian backed Somali interim government troops and more intensified local insurgents linked with the ousted Islamic Courts Union.

^^^^ FS, don't be surprised. I presume from that one liner he's referring to how a certain group (sub-clan, if you will) is the only one against the occupation. Little does he know that the dabo-dhilifs he worships are in fact the minority.

 

Clearly, the dude is yet to find the knowledge he's seeking.
