Al-Shabaab ambushes ATMIS base in Lower Shabelle: Casualties unknown

Mogadishu (HOL) - In a significant and potentially deadly ambush last night in the Bulo Mareer district, Lower Shabelle region, Al-Shabaab militants targeted an African Union ATMIS (African Union Transition Mission in Somalia) military base, primarily staffed by Ugandan forces. The scale and intensity of the battle are reportedly significant, although casualties and injuries are not yet known.
