General Duke Posted February 7, 2007 Somalia: Yemen delays the asylum offer to Islamist top leader Tue. February 06, 2007 09:04 am.- By Mohamed Abdi Farah. - Send this news article (SomaliNet) The Yemeni government said on Tuesday that it postponed the trip of Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed, the Islamist leader to its country for unspecified date, Yemeni newspapers reports. Reliable sources close to the ministry of foreign affairs say that Yemeni government decided to put off the trip in which Sheik Ahmed would reach the country. Earlier, Yemen had declared that it is granting political asylum to the leader of the executive council of Islamic Courts Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed who is in Nairobi under the custody of Kenyan authorities. Sources say that initially Sheikh Ahmed was expected to reach Yemen on Monday but the Sanaa government changed its mind halting the offer of asylum to the Islamist leader for indefinite time. The papers in Sanaa quoting unnamed officials say that Yemeni government made the decision to consult with the governments of US, Somalia and Kenya over the possibility that Sheik Ahmed, a key Islamist leader receive political asylum in Yemen. The discussion over Sheik Ahmed’s future is said to be how the moderate cleric as US believes would have a key role in pacifying Somalia within the government ranch. The move that the Yemeni government postponed Sheik Ahmed’s trip to its country came after the transitional federal government sent a letter to Yemen demanding Sanaa government to give more explanations to how the Islamist leader will stay in Yemen and the possible actions he might step in. Taliban Posted February 7, 2007 Originally posted by General Duke: The Yemeni government said on Tuesday that it postponed the trip of Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed, the Islamist leader to its country for unspecified date, Yemeni newspapers reports. So, Sheikh Sharif isn't yet in Yemen. In your previous comment, this is what you claimed: "Garbage, the man is already in Yemen." What's with the outright lies? General Duke Posted February 7, 2007 ^^^That was an error on my part as most Somali sites where reporting that he was in Yemen. I was startled by the news, and suprised, he does not have even Yemens confidance.

Naxar Nugaaleed Posted February 7, 2007 why is he not blind folded, handcuffed and sent Mogadishu like the rest of the ICU?
Fabregas Posted February 7, 2007 Maybe because it would turn him into a hero? While at the moment he is a relative nobody in somali politics? This why the American let him go, if they had killed him or detained for a lengthy period, they would have turned into an uneccesary hero.Besides some of the somali warlords have commited far worser crimes then him have been forgiven. Some of the people who have been "blindfolded" are innoncent people who have been bounty hunted either for having a large beard, belonging to a certain clan or being oromo.Of course anybody who has disagrees with these inhumane actions is a dowladiid right Naxar? DigibAc Posted February 7, 2007 ^^What about the 10s of other "heros" in jawaano?? The game is simple, the TFG has the foriegners firepower, the can do whatever they like! Think of this, remember the day when Yeeys militia killed 9 of Qanyaras boys, in MOQDISHO?? What did Qanyara do? NOTHING! Because there is nothing he can! The people of xamar have 2 choices 1. bend over for yeey 2. face the foriegners firepower
Taako Man Posted February 7, 2007 ^ Yey's boys didn't shoot anybody. The TFG guards at villa Somalia reacted to Qanyare and Xaran ku naax's militias. They had a gun fight over simple protocol i.e a parking space. Then 6 members of there militia died and possibly more.
DigibAc Posted February 7, 2007 ^^Taako man, my point is Qanyaras boys got killed in Mogdishu by Yeeys boys and there was nothing he could do about it. Just goes to show you the balance of power.
General Duke Posted February 7, 2007 ^^^The TFG troops defended the compound of the president, it was not a clan issue. Dont turn it into one, The TFG armed forces are multi clan..
