No Iqama renewal for expat doctors with 10 Years in KSA

11-Point Plan to Revamp Health Sector

The Minister for Health, Tawfiq Al Rabiah has announced an 11-point plan which has been aimed at the complete revamping of the Health Sector and also at streamlining the Ministry of Health.

The minister of health wants to make all of the procedures into an electronic format in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the management of all of the government-owned and run hospitals.

No Administrative Positions for Doctors

The specialists and doctors will not be holding any administrative positions in accordance with this new 11-point agenda brought forward by the Minister of Health, Tawfiq Al Rabiah.

All the doctors and specialists will now only focus on their respective areas of expertise and not on the management or organization of the hospital.

No Iqama Renewal for Expat Doctors > 10 years

According to the proposed plan, all of the expatriate specialists and doctors who have spent a period of more than 10 years in the Kingdom will not be able to renew their residency or work permits (also known as Iqama) anymore.

No Iqama Renewal for Expat Consultants  15 years

All of the expatriate consultants who have resided in the Kingdom for a period of more than 15 years will also not be allowed to renew their residency or work permits.

None of the expatriate doctors will be allowed to hold any sort of administrative position at any of the government or state-run hospitals.
