Xaaji Xunjuf Posted July 7, 2010 The Ultimate Fight: Somaliland vs. Al-Shabab by Dalmar Ugas Wednesday, July 07, 2010 Believe it or not but this will happen. Before I write anything more, let’s agree on the following facts: 1) America and its western allies will not allow Al-Shabab to rule Somalia. 2) Sooner or later Al-Shabab will defeat the TFG, Ahlu-Suna and Hizbu-Islam. 3) Ethiopia, Kenya, America and Europe are very unlikely to send troops to Somalia. 4) International recognition of Somaliland is very unlikely. 5) Al-Shabab inspiration is to rule all of Somalia (Puntland, Somaliland and South Central Somalia). 6) Al-Shabab will not negotiate with anyone in regard to how to govern Somalia. So given those facts, let’s examine how America can achieve its strategic objective of defeat Al-Shabab. To get the strategic defeat of Al-Shabab the final fight must be a fought by Somalis themselves. Somalis will be divided into two camps: one that believes in Al-Shabab ideology and another that believes in hybrid model of Somali culture mixed with western style democracy. The question is who will do the fighting? I believe its Somaliland. Somaliland will not be recognized because it’s the only place that has sort of a western style democratic government, peace and prosperity where an army can be trained and equipped which is still part of Somalia. If Somaliland is recognized, the ultimate fight will be internationalized and this is unacceptable to America and its allies. As you all know, since the election of the new Somaliland president – the call for Somaliland to play critical role to bring peace in Southern Somalia is getting loader and loader. The drum beats are coming from Somalis from the South (including current TFG president) and the international community. Ask yourself, why now? Why not two or three years ago? First, there is the believe that the president-elect has personal aspiration to become the president for all Somalia, secondly, the international community have finally realized Somalis cannot be controlled and finally America and its allies now have a western style democracy(Somaliland people) right next to Al-Shabab that at any cost defend independency and way of life. I know I have raised issues that may not unfold as described in this writing but in logical sense “when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth”. Bottom line, Somaliland should be preparing for a final fight to defend their new democracy if international recognition does not materialize and Al-Shabab takes control of entire Southern part of Somalia. There are no other options. Thanks, Dalmar Ugaas, USA Dalmar_ugaas@hotmail.com

Haatu Posted July 7, 2010 Not really. The author has forgotten that the TFG isn't defending itself. It's being defended by AMISOM troops. If they're defeated and that's an if, you can bet your house Ethiopia will once again come back.
Jacaylbaro Posted July 8, 2010 Alshabaab will once have a face--to-face fight with Somaliland ...... the question is WHEN .... and they will learn a good lesson ...
Samafal Posted July 8, 2010 lool..Somaliland and Al-shabaab fierce fighters are match? Somali people know each other very well. Only Somali warriors who can stop the adavances of Alshabab (and that's if they can be stopped) are those from the central regions (Mudug and Galgadud Etc). wiilashii surka dheera ee reer Burco, Berbera, Hargaysa ilaahay uga barya inuu Alshabaab kusaladin

Samafal Posted July 8, 2010 ^calm down lad. I know the truth hurts, but I merely stated how things are. I'm not a supporter of Alshabab, but you Somaliland of all people should not call for a war, becouse history does not pen you down as warriors and fierce fighetrs, but a peace loving community (that's compliment, no?) Samafal Posted July 8, 2010 Lol.... I see the pirates give you nightmares don't they? You see pirates in every one, don't you? Sxb go on, indulge yourself with lies. But 'I' as one do not pray war for you my beloved people, as I and the whole Somali people know you are not good at it. Good luck with it though! Samafal Posted July 8, 2010 Horta, if you do not have a "Womanly scalp" as you claim, be a man and say the Word "P-u-n-t-l-a-n-d". Is it dificult? Do you lack confidence? You can come along with my confidence building training and yes you can bring along the clan with you as for sure they need it too.

Samafal Posted July 8, 2010 ^Booto! Booto! Sxb my kind are self confident, with high self esteem whereas your lot entertain with empty bravado as a sleeping pill and always seem to be chasing a ghost. In other words, I see Somaliland a poverty stricken enclave with no much weight when it comes to the larger schemes of things in the Somali peninsula. Boy, Calm down you have never defeated any one you are incapable of doing so and honestly speaking you're chasing a ghost. No one sees you as enemy, rather we an equally poor people who war should be the be last thing in their mind, that's if your scalp is mentally intelligen to grasp this. lastly, don't get upset its only words on screen and tone down. Remember I did say you are peace loving people, is that not enough for you to go to bed?
