Jabhad Posted September 27, 2005 DURING THE LAST DAYS OF SIYAD BARRE REGIME, PEOPLE OF XAMAR AND MUCH OF SOMALIA WERE EXPECTING MUCH FROM THE BIGEST REBEL GROUP IN THE COUNTRY, THE USC REBELS. BUT INSTEAD OF DELIVERING HOPE AND PROSPERITY FOR A PEOPLE TIRED OF THE CORRUPT REGIME OF SIYAD BARRE, USC DELIVERED DEAD AND MISERY. EVEN THE TALIBAN DID BETTER THAN THE USC REBELS SINCE TALEBAN HAD A FUNCTIONING GOVERNMENT IN AFGANISTAN UNDER THE RULE OF MULLAH OMAR, THE ONE EYE LEADER. STILL PEOPLE OF SOMALI DID NOT RECOVER FROM THE FAILED ATTEMPT BY THE USC TO RULE THE COUNTRY.
Scientist Posted September 28, 2005 Well what did you expect from a bounch of savegries,? these people had no vision, no plan, no statehood, no programme, no alternative, their only plan was to overthrow Siyaad Barre, and then exterminate his fellow clansmen. As Caydiid used to lecture them all time.

General Duke Posted September 28, 2005 ^^^ I agree lets stop the generalisation. The whole of the southern clan movements where not much better, you had the SPM,SNF, and all the other rubish that were battling the USC and so on. Its not just the USC groups but all the Somali rebel groups and the former regime that created this situation that we are in right now.. Lets move on and stop the divisive comments... But the second part, aidid and usc planned to exterminate certain clans, i don't agree. We would have had different picture than we have now. This is 14 years late, and pointless. We should learn from history, so that the likes of these rebels don't deceave us. I agree lets stop the generalisation. True, its all the rebels that have failed somalia. But you must recognize that USC was the leading and the most powerfull of all these rebels, and with the right leader and the right plans, would have ruled somalia.
