Somalia: Explosion in Puntland capital kills 1

The explosion occurred at a crowded restaurant at around 6:30pm local time Friday, instantly killing a Somali national named Abdiaziz Haji Yusuf, according to police officials in Garowe, the capital of Puntland.

 

Mr. Abdishakur Mire Adan, Puntland's deputy information minister, told a press conference in Garowe that the explosion was "accidental."

 

"There is an ongoing police investigation...but I can tell you that all the victims are Somali, except a wounded girl who is ethnic Oromo from Ethiopia," Mr. Mire said.
