Somali footballer Abdi Sharif makes history in Championship debut

London (HOL) - Former Liverpool youngster Abdi Sharif concluded his debut season with Wigan Athletic by becoming the first Somali player to feature in the English Football Championship. Sharif's path to this landmark achievement started when he and his family moved from Somalia and settled in Toxteth. At just six years old, he joined Liverpool's academy and climbed the ranks, even playing for Steven Gerrard's under-18s squad.
