Jacaylbaro Posted February 16, 2008 For three years now, a group of pro TFG writers have flooded Somali websites calling themselves unionists and patriots. Ali Abdullah, Faysal Roble, Gamal Hassan, Mohsin Mahad, Abdallah Hirad and many others have forcefully argued in favor of the TFG, the Ethiopian invasion and the Somali unity. They are telling us that the country has been destroyed by 17 years of lawlessness and that the TFG, how imperfect it might currently be, can be the vehicle of the restoration of the Somali state. At the same time, according to Siadists, TFG structures allow everybody and every clan and every region (including Somaliland) to be properly represented. And finally, contend TFG supporters, free and fair general elections will be organized in a year time. All this sound nice and good. However a couple a bizarre circumstantial coincidences lead you to remain cautious and cynical. Among these: why all the TFG apologists and Anti-Somaliland activists hail from the very same clan? If the Somali federal structures were so perfect and to be reinforced soon by fair elections, if the Somali unity was so paramount, why only Puntlanders are at the forefront of this fight? Does the answer lie inside Villa Somalia? Why past federal governments did not receive the endorsements of these so called pro-unity groups? Why the ICU law and order improvements were only greeted by jeers? Why are these TFG apologists so preoccupied with the situation in Lascanood? If they say occupation, you might think that they are talking about Mogadishu but they are referring to Lascanood. If they say genocide, you might think that they are talking about Mogadishu but they are referring to Lascanood. If they say civilians displaced, you might think that they are talking about Mogadishu but they are referring to Lascanood. If they say that Somali unity might be harmed in the future, you might think that they are talking about Mogadishu but they are referring to Lascanood. If they say that future clan-based revenges might occur, you might think that they are talking about Mogadishu but they are referring to Lascanood. Meanwhile, as the Somali supreme warlord, Cabdillahi Yousuf, is on his last leg, the real test is fast approaching for pro TFG groups. The warlord health is shaky at best and he has been holed up for two weeks in Addis Abbaba and seemingly pressured by his Ethiopian masters to relinquish power. As soon as YeY vacates Villa Somalia, a now familiar course of events will unfold Puntland will cut its all remaining ties with the TFG arguing that since no functional government exist, all Somali clans should take care of their destiny. My guess is that the TFG cyber supporters will go silent or they will vehemently call for a new round of Somali conferences in attempt to put one of their clansmen on top?
