PasserBy Posted February 3, 2010 I read some people trying to capitalize on a statement made by Jama Yassin Farah regarding Congressman Donald Payne. Those who think Congressman Donald Payne is a friend of Somaliland, Puntland or southern Somalia are deluding themselves. Sure Donald Payne is a friend. But he is a friend of the tyrant in Eritrea. Everything the congressman does in the horn of Africa is with the regime in Asmara in mind. Whether it is his support for ONLF, Puntland or other entities. His congressional aide, Ted Dagne, is an Eritrean born in Ethiopia. He is the go between the Congressman, Asmara and myopic forces in the Horn of Africa. As you know the UN Security Council imposed sanctions on the regime in Asmara for its destabilizing activities in Somalia and its aggression against Djibouti. Earlier on Congressman Ed Royce ® introduced a bill in the House that would have imposed similar sanctions on Asmara, but Congressman Donald Payne successfully thwarted that effort by rallying democrats to vote against it. He was also instrumental in the passing of a punitive bill “Ethiopia Democracy and Accountability Act” that was heavily lobbied on by the regime in Asmara. The Senate however refused to take up the bill and it died as a consequence. The moral of the story is Donald Payne has one and one agenda. And that is help his friend in Asmara, tyrant Isais, in what ever way he can. BTW, Donald Payne is one of several house representatives the Ethics committee is investigating. Donald Payne is alleged to have accepted a vacation to the Caribbean paid for by a lobbyist.

PasserBy Posted February 4, 2010 Somaliland Accuses Eritrea of Smuggling Weapons 23 January 2009 Police authorities in Somalia's breakaway republic of Somaliland have confiscated a number of anti-aircraft guns in the region's capital Hargeisa, Radio Garowe reports. Abdullahi Ismail "Irro," Somaliland's interior minister, told reporters Friday that local police found ten anti-aircraft guns inside a Hargeisa house. "The weapons came from Eritrea and were transferred through Galgadud," Mr. Irro said, while referring to a region in central Somalia that has been a major base for Islamists since the 1990s. He said that two suspects have been apprehended and are being interviewed at a secret location. Somaliland's interior minister said he believes that terror groups were planning to use the weapons to commit attacks in Hargeisa, adding that he will provide a full report to the media after the investigation is complete. Security has been tightened in Hargeisa following a series of coordinated suicide bombings that killed upwards of 20 people in Oct. 2008.
