Somaliland: Operation Clean up Laascaanood (Loading...)

Recommended Posts

According to military experts, the armed melitia who are hiding inside the town, have greatly reduced their firing since yesterday afternoon.

There are two reasons for this.

1. They are running low in ammunitions.

2. They are digging in defensive posture, rather than their offensive posture in the last few days.

Laascaanood area is now a military only zone. No vehicles are allowed to enter the town, but vehicles are allowed to leave and checked thoroughly.

Any prisoner caught who are recognised as being from Puntland will not be returned to Puntland as previously done, as Puntland has stated that they are not taking part. The same goes for other PoWs from Somali State or elswhere. They will forever be held in captivity in Somaliland.

Somaliland Army is closely coordinating plans to capture or kill the Terror cells with its International partners.

International? That phase of the war on terror has passed. It's a matter of desperation if you think foriegn countries will "coordinate" with Hargeisa militia to kill reer Laascaanood.

So the latest news, Garaad Jaamac was on the call with Beesha Caalamka. Beesha Caalamka put on the table the only way forward which is to accept Ismaciil Cumar Gheele's mediation efforts.

Also, the US Rep was unequivocal about Terror Groups seen inside Laascaanood and asked the Garaad to do all effort to apprehends the wanted terrorists and hand over to the US.

This final demand has put spanner in the works for the Garaad. He is between a rock and hard place. Damned if he does, damned he doesn't.

Very interesting.

Somaliland Army is ready for action only waiting the Green light from Hargeisa.

There is no army or even organized militia. Have you seen the so called bases (Saldhiga ciidanka) in Tukaraq and outside Laascaanood? They are Make shift shelters made of wood or animal shelters like trees covered with clothes. I haven't seen one single tent or building. Those who know say, these are mostly homeless soldiers who pass their days and evenings chewing Qat and collapsing at night in these shelters. Other than the uniform and technicals which every outlaw could have, I haven't seen a real army.

Somaliland Gov't has declared unconditional cease fire today. This comes after a meeting was held today between the commander of the Local Somaliland Army forces Col. Mahad Canbaashe and Garaad Jamac Garaad Ismacil.

The Somaliland gov't is prepared for all eventualities including the talks proposed by IGAD in Djibouti.
