NASSIR Posted January 24, 2005 Allaha ha u naxariisto well-educated, well-trained firm general was shot dead by four gunmen. It is not clear why Gen Yusuf Ahmed Sarinle was targeted, but correspondents suggest it may be because he backed the deployment of foreign peacekeepers. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4200083.stm To listen more of his backgournd, go to Dayniile.com

General Duke Posted January 24, 2005 Qudhac, was the late General a member of the government. This is another mad day in Mogadishu, but it does underline the fact that without disarmament nothing will ever be back to normal.
Qudhac Posted January 24, 2005 duke he was not member of this government but he was very active supporter of c/y attempt to bring african troops... and i gues you can decifer what muqdisho residents thought of his stance
Nationalist Posted January 24, 2005 Inalillaahi Wa Ina Ileyhi Raji'un. It's sad to see our handful Somali officers being killed like flies in Mogadishu. Some MPs are now even to afraid to leave for Mogadishu within the next two or three weeks. Indeed Duke, it underlines that fact that disarmament by foreign troops is a must. The only people who are against the disarmament by foreign troops are the citizens of Mogadishu, but they do not realise that they lost the chance to prove that foreign troops are not nessecary. Therefore losing any justified argument against Abdullahi Yusuf's call for AU peacekeeping forces. For those who want to see the ill effects of foreign troops, you might be interested in this link: http://archives.cbc.ca/IDD-1-71-723/conflict_war/somalia/ Duke, Windtalker, HornAfrique, Qorshel, Bari Nomad, Orgilaqe and all others. I would like to open a discussion about how to seek to it that foreign troop won't commit any crimes in Somalia. What can we do to prevent crimes, such as the atrocities commited by Canadians, Americans and Belgians to our innocent people? I'm planning to open this thread a week from now or perhaps later. Emperor Posted January 24, 2005 Ilahay ha unaxariisto Generalka iyo intii dhimatay muslimiintaba. Nationalist, Good topic sxb, I appriate you remembered that. We should learn from previous experiences, and do whatever to avoid such things to happen. After all our people suffered by the hand of Foreign troups more than they benefited during 93-95. However, by the day it becomes apparent that the arrival of AU troops is inevitable as of the current situation in Mogadishu. I hope this time things will be different, and the AU troops will be under the supervision - control of the government rather than enjoying full freedom of excercing whatever they wish as of the case during the 90's. In addition to that, this time the decision didn't came from the intenational community. It is a result of great compaign from non other than the current Predisent and PM, so it's them who should be responsible for any mistreatment or wrong doings by troops. They better be aware of this.... Anywayz im looking forward to the topic.
NASSIR Posted January 24, 2005 I have heard from other sources that he was part of public discussion to welcome FTG in Mogadisho. Allaha u naxariisto. I do not know him but he was said to be a true patriot who had never left Somalia since the collapse of the last regime.
Suldaanka Posted January 25, 2005 The guy was highly accomplished man, he used to work in the Somaliland Police before he was given his "Ruqsad" few years ago by the late President Ina Egal, after they disagreed on key policy changes. He was from Far Eastern Sanaag region. The recent killing marks the death of the 3rd Somalilander that is murdered in Mogadishu. Two months ago another Sarkaal who hails from Sool region was killed. And about 3 years ago a highly respected General from Awdal region was murdered near Abdiqasim's residence Hotel Ramadan.
