Garowe (PP News Desk) — The former Foreign Minister of Somalia Ahmed Isse Awad has denounced the decision of Somaliland Administration to indiscriminately shell the city of Laascaanood today.

“The …indiscriminate bombardement of [Laascaanood] by Somaliland forces is extremely distressing and should be condemned…” tweeted Awad.

The massive destruction and multitudes of deaths of the unarmed civilians in Lasanod reportedly inflicted by the indiscriminate bombardement of Somaliland forces is extremely distressing and should be condemned by anyone with the slightest blood of humanity. It should stop.

Somaliland forces launched a surprise attack to disrupt an event in Laascaanood for the release of a communique after the end of consultative conference for Sool clan and Fiqishini clans to reaffirm their identity based a politically and territorially United Somalia in line with the UN Security Council Resolutions.

Somaliland forces used mortars and heavy weaponry to shell residential parts of Laascaanood.
